Sphagnum peat

Sphagnum is a bryophyte, which is a subdivision of mosses that form the sphagnopsida family. Sphagnum is therefore a type of moss with a particular
leaf structure. This structure allows the peat to retain large quantities of water.

BioPharmapro uses only the Purest Canadian Sphagnum Peat.

Various Peat Qualities:

Although Russia was the first country to process peat, the therapeutic quality was adversely affected by the Chernobyl disaster, as several peat bogs were contaminated by radiation.

Canada, which is ranked 4th in terms of peat processing, has by far the best quality of peat for therapeutic purposes. The vastness of Canada’s territory and the sparseness of its industries per km2 explain why the peat found is of such high quality. The humic acid content, resulting from the decomposition of peat, is one of the highest throughout the world. About 75 % of Canadian peat bogs are composed of sphagnum.

Canada counts 111,328,000 hectares of peat bogs, this represents more than 12% of Canada's land mass.
